Disfellowship, Disassociate, or fade. What would you do different.
by John Aquila inhindsight: .
many times because of the shock of learning ttatt, a person loses it.
you want to scream and tell the whole world that the watchtower is a big lie.

We faded, the only thing I'd do differently is I would have done it sooner, I wouldn't explain to, argue with or show anyone the reasons I decided to leave. They don't care or want to know and it can make you crazy trying to make them understand.
The one other thing I might have liked to have done, is to make subtle comments at the meeting that show the irony of what is being said now compared to what was once called "the truth". It would have also been fun to leave copies of old magazine covers (see below) lying around at the Kingdom Hall, on car windshields, in the restroom etc...showing some of the past issues that made life changing claims that everybody trusted but ended being totally incorrect. Then sit back and watch the ensuing drama as the tried to ferret out the wicked apostate who is using their own literature against them.

Was it worth it?
by John Aquila infor those of you who left family and friends and had to start over from scratch just to get out of the organization, was it worth it?.

It's not a matter of was it worth it, It was more a matter of not being able to go on with it any longer until there was no longer any option. When you get to that point, anything is an improvement even if you do have to take some big hits in many areas, the biggest being the loss of your own personal history and the network of friends you had built up over the years. -

"Make a list of people you want to meet in the New System!" (New September Watchtower)
by FusionTheism inwatchtower september 2015 study edition, "stand firm in the faith," paragraphs 16 and 17:.
following jesus example, we must read the bible daily, study it, and meditate on what we learn.
along with general bible study, dig into topics about which you may have questions.. you can imitate jesus by meditating on the wonderful promises jehovah has made to you.

I'd like to meet my grandmother again but it won't be quite the same if she is as young and beautiful as she was in the photos of her when she was young. In fact, it will be downright weird. -

disillusioned 2a minute agoMy husband believes that anyone leaving does so because they can't live up to it not because they have stopped believing! He knows of course that I don't believe it but he can't come to terms with that.
Most of the ones I know who stay with it do so not because they really believe it.....
they do so because they think they SHOULD believe it.

by FusionTheism inthey just posted the simplified august study watchtower on jw.org.. paragraph 11 of the "expectation!

I don't know of any gossip regarding why we faded but at one point there was a rumor being spread around about us after a sister asked us to raise her young daughter if anything were ever happen to her.
We have two sons of our own and the rumor being spread was that my wife was pining for a daughter of her own but that I had a non reversible vasectomy and this sister asked us to raise her daughter because she felt so sorry form my wife. (P.S. I never had a vasectomy and we only planned to have 2 kids and were perfectly happy having boys) It was strange to think that people were walking around with this kind of personal misinformation about me.

"Foot in the Door", or "Apathy with a Cart"?
by stuckinarut2 inwe have all noticed this and commented in other threads.... but isn't it interesting that in times past, witnesses earned a reputation of being so determined to share "the kingdom message" that they would put their foot in the door at a house to keep the conversation going!.
now, the apathy and lack of effort in service; particularly with the literature carts shows the complete opposite!
yet...the end is supposed to be even closer right?

I am aware that there is a group of purists who would say that it's not jealousy over today's JW having it easier, but it's the power of conviction that JW's should have if they want to spread their word. And that conviction would make them be like the "foot-in-the-door" Witnesses.
I think most here couldn't care less about how they go about the work now....it's more a matter of pointing out the irony they see. I'm glad they aren't sticking their foot in the door or are being required to do as much but it does irk me that they once held scriptural reasonings over our heads as biblical proof that we should be working harder and doing more as the end drew near....not less.

1. Why is it that Christians can accept the idea that God had no creator and has always existed but they insist that the that the earth had to be created by someone?
If no one created God and if he has been here forever, then the rules of logic demand that the same can be said for the universe. The universe could have always existed and it evolved as scientists would have us believe, based on facts and plausible scientific theory.
2. The account of Jesus death in the Bible is a very sad one but everyone seemed so shocked that it happened even though the purpose of him coming here was to die and buy back life for mankind. If the people of earth at that time accepted him as he and the apostles had hoped, would he have just grown old and died even though he was perfect like Adam?
